I came to know recently about the latest offering by karaoke lounges... that is the buffet dinner that was supposingly charged to include the free singing session in private room! It does sound appealing to me as you serve your stomach, you get to entertain at the same time! So, we had been on the look out for a good opportunity to the place.
Today (deepavali day) is also the chinese b'day of my mom though we had agreed to celebrate it at a later day when all my siblings could make up for the gathering! So being the nearest to mom, we accompanied her for dinner and i suggested to go for the karaoke buffet dinner knowing that mom loves singing! Bookings were made and we arrived the place punctually! I was there doing check-in where my I/C was even secured for record but once they issued us the sales slip where all the particulars were stated including the charges details, we discovered the so-called 'scam'.
When i made the booking, I was told that the charge would be RM44++ per pax (including buffet dinner, 1 cocktail drink & free flow karaoke singing in private room). There were 4 adults & my 2 monkeys of course. The boys were free of charge.
BUT BUT BUT..........there was this "MUST PAY" minimum fee charge being:
-RM9++ for peanut
-RM20++ for fruit platter (this one must take 2 portions)
Meaning on top of the RM44++ x 4 adults fees, we were force to pay for the RM49++ for the stupid peanut & fruit!!!
My huby's face immediately turned BLACK & told them to keep the peanut & fruit for themselves!! He just told me in front of them: "like that we go down to Tai Thong & eat better lar" and he straight away walked off !!! Phew.....all i could said was "sou heng"/dissapointed to the lady at the reception & off i turned my back too!! Really crazy...........
For new*y, please bare in mind consumers today are no longer easy to be taken for granted! They so clever, we also clever.....we still got "red kotak" "green kotak" as alternatives!!
Then we went for mom's favourite shark fin & other regular chinese dishes!!
Btw, the boys were obviously dissapointed too! See below, they were in some racing car shirt ready bought by Teng yi-yi from Hong Kong woman's street, ready for karaoke. The material was so good yet it was so damn cheap.....only about HK$50+ (RM25+) each!
